USC left tackle Matt Kalil is rated just behind the top quarterbacks of this year's 2012 NFL Draft as the most sure thing on the board, and you have to figure he's going to be the guy most likely to be picked in the top five, most likely as the third pick behind Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III. You just can't pass up on a left tackle when he's available.
Mel Kiper releases his latest mock draft, which you should be able to view on ESPN Insider. And he concurs: Kalil and the Vikings are the natural match for each other.
This is one more I'm going to stick with. We know Minnesota needs an upgrade at left tackle, and Kalil is that rare rookie who doesn't need to spend some time on the right side. I think he can start his NFL career at left tackle and hold the position down, even though he'll face some serious competition in terms of NFC North pass-rushers. This pick is about giving Christian Ponder a chance to be successful.
