For a long time, it's been speculated that the logical third overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft would be left tackle Matt Kalil of the USC Trojans. Kalil seems like one of those surefire talents who might immediately upgrade a team's offensive line, and more importantly provide important pass protection for his new quarterback. The Minnesota Vikings currently own the third pick in the draft, so they figure to have the inside track.
That isn't stopping the Cleveland Browns from taking a look at Kalila. Could Kalil actually drop to the fourth spot? It's possible Minnesota could look elsewhere. Mary Kay Cabot of the Plain Dealer has more.
Just eight days before the NFL draft, the Browns will travel to conduct a private workout today with top-rated USC offensive tackle Matt Kalil, a league source told The Plain Dealer.
The Browns have also hosted Kalil in Cleveland as one of their predraft visits.
Kalil (6-6, 306) is expected to go No. 3 to Minnesota, but the Vikings will listen to trade offers, and reports have surfaced recently that they might pass on Kalil.
