NFL Mock Draft 2012: Green Bay Packers Pick Nick Perry

One of the main issues with the Green Bay Packers all season was their painfully inadequate pass rush. The Packers could not pressure the quarterback when they needed it in their playoff contest with the New York Giants, and Eli Manning stood back in the pocket and delivered with confidence. One of the top priorities for Green Bay this year is to upgrade their front seven, and it seems that getting a top rush defensive end/linebacker will put the Packers back where they want to be.

Perhaps getting another USC Trojan is what the Packers need. Draft Tek has the Packers taking junior defensive end Nick Perry with the 28th pick.

While Perry was a defensive end for the Trojans, his lack of bulk certainly projects him as a 3-4 OLB in the NFL. Perry is fluid in space, sees the ball well and should be able to make the transition to 3-4 OLB despite lack of experience at that spot. At this time, his pass rush skills are effective, but limited - he's a pure outside speed rusher. Highlight Video . But consider this: even if his pass rush is one dimensional at this point, that's still more than the "no dimension" the Packers have had from the ROLB spot for a few years, so they'll gladly take it.
