NFL Mock Draft 2012: Nick Perry Looking To Solidify First Round Projection At NFL Combine

The 2012 NFL Draft is right around the corner and just about every eligible prospect in the country will be making his way to Indianapolis for the NFL Combine to impress scouts from all across the league. For guys like Nick Perry, who many feel could be drafted anywhere in the first or second round, it is imperative that he performs well in workouts and also impresses some coaches during the interview process.

Perry has seen his name linked to nearly half the teams in the league and this latest mock draft from SB Nation has the former USC Trojans standout heading to the San Francisco 49ers.

30. San Francisco 49ers, Nick Perry, OLB, USC

Everything about this pick says it should be a cornerback or an offensive lineman. The 49ers need both, but they could also find help on the free agent market. The Giants reminded the 49ers that you can never have enough pass rushers. That will be especially true if they lose Ahmad Brooks in free agency this year. Perry would probably not be ready for a three-down role, which would still leave the 49ers with questions to answer.

The 49ers may not be an ideal spot for Perry given their depth at linebacker, but Perry is talented and athletic enough to adjust to any scheme. He will be a bit of a project and will need some time to develop, but should he get proper coaching at the next level, he could become a force and a nightmare for offensive lines to keep out of the backfield.
