USC Trojans Hire Marvin Sanders, Scottie Hazleton, According To Report

The USC Trojans are trying to fill back in their coaching staff after two prominent coaches left for other positions. Linebackers coach Joe Berry departed for the San Diego Chargers, and USC really hasn't had a secondary coach ever since Willie Mack Garza resigned before the 2011 season.

Lane Kiffin didn't go for big names here, but instead decided to go with some under-the-radar names.

Sanders has been working with defensive backs in three different places the past decade, including Colorado State, North Carolina and Nebraska. He was apparently joining Carl Pellini at FAU as the new defensive coordinator, but a lateral move to Heritage Hall at his familiar secondary coaching spot was enough to make him reconsider.

Hazleton is a bit of a curious hire because he has never coached or recruited on the FBS level. He's spent the past four years as the defensive coordinator/linebackers coach at North Dakota State, where he has been very successful. There's no doubt that this will be a bit of a reach for Kiffin.
