When the Rose Bowl Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony commences on Dec. 30 at the Pasadena Convention Center, former USC offensive lineman and Pro Football Hall of Famer, Ron Yary, will be among those inducted. Former Arizona State and Ohio State head coach John Cooper and former Michigan quarterback Bob Griese will also be inducted.
Yary dominated as an interior lineman for the Trojans and was a two-time All-American. He was a consensus choice in 1966 and a unanimous selection in 1967. That 1967 season, Yary blocked for a running back known as O.J. Simpson. He is the only Trojan to win the Outland Trophy, which is awarded to the best offensive lineman in the country.
Yary was the No. 1 overall pick in the 1968 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings and went on to a stellar career, culminating in his enshrinement in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2001. He played 14 of his 15 years with the Vikings.
