Lane Kiffin said that Torin Harris will start at cornerback against the Washington Huskies this week despite the USC Trojans head coach giving safety Josh Shaw repetitions at the position in practice. The team's Twitter reported that the Trojans will go with Harris and Nickell Robey as the two starting cornerbacks.
Shaw, a redshirt sophomore, saw a few weeks at cornerback in the fall but didn't do enough to win the job over, according to ESPN LA. The safety practiced at cornerback on Sunday and Tuesday but found himself back at safety due to an injury to Jawanza Starling on Wednesday.
Shaw has played in three games this season, recording four tackles and one interception.
Harris, a junior, has 19 tackles and has played in the last four games for USC. He also has four passes defended, but this week it appeared that Kiffin had lost a bit of confidence in Harris. Now, it appears as if he is still the best option for the Trojan defense.
