The USC Trojans open as 12-point favorites over the Utah Utes heading into their Thursday night contest at Rice-Eccles Stadium in Utah.
The Trojans are coming off a 27-9 win over the California Golden Bears and are 3-1 overall, 1-1 in the Pac-12. The Utes are 2-2 with a 0-1 record in the Pac-12.
The Trojans used a more balanced attack to knock off Cal as quarterback Matt Barkley only threw for 192 yards. USC got 158 yards on 21 carries from Penn State transfer Silas Redd and 115 yards on 10 carries from Curtis McNeal. Wide receiver Marqise Lee had 94 of Barkley's 192 yards and half (11) of Barkley's completions (22).
The Utes are coming off a bye but lost to the Arizona St. Sun Devils in their last contest on Sept. 22, 37-7.
The Trojans are ranked No. 13 in the country heading into the game.
