NFL Mock Draft 2012: USC Trojans DE Nick Perry Could Wind Up With Chargers

The 2012 NFL Draft is still a good ways off, but fans, experts and evaluators continue to crunch the numbers and weigh all of the options in order to predict which team will select which player and in what order. It's a safe bet that this dissecting of the candidates is nothing compared to the analysis currently underway in the front offices of the 32 NFL franchises.

One of the young NCAA players getting a lot of attention is USC Trojans defensive end/outside linebacker Nick Perry. National Football Post has their latest mock draft up, which includes predicting that Perry will be selected in the first round. Their projection is that Perry will be the No. 18 overall pick, which would send him to the San Diego Chargers.

3-4 teams are always looking for talented pass rushers and Perry has the skill set to be an impact guy. He’s an explosive athlete with a good first step and sneaky power to his game. He’s a bit linear, but from a two-point stance he could mature into a real terror.

NFP is not the first source to suggest that Perry would go to the Chargers. If so, Southern California fans can rejoice knowing that at least one of their own will be staying close to home.
