USC Center Dewayne Dedmon Out For Season With Knee Injury

To say the 2011-2012 college basketball season has been disastrous for the USC Trojans would be an understatement. USC, losers of nine straight games and 13 of their last 14 contests, got more bad news on Friday, as center Dewayne Dedmon is out for the season with a torn MCL in his left knee, confirmed by assistant coach Bob Cantu.

Dedmon injured the knee Thursday night in the Trojans' 74-50 loss to the Colorado Buffaloes, and left after just four minutes of play. An MRI Friday morning confirmed the bad news. Dedmon is the fifth USC to suffer a season ending injury this season, joining Aaron Fuller, Jio Fontan, Evan Smith, and Curtis Washington. The Trojans are down to an astonishing six scholarship players on the active roster.

Dedmon, the 7-footer who gave USC their only semblance of an inside threat, averaged 7.6 points and 5.4 rebounds in 20 games this season. USC (5-16, 0-8) hosts Utah (5-15, 2-6) on Saturday night at Galen Center in a battle of the worst two teams in the Pac-12 Conference.
