One of these games, the shots were bound to start falling for the USC Trojans. The Trojans used a 14-2 run in the first half to briefly take a lead, but after 20 minutes USC trails the Oregon Ducks 30-28 at halftime at Matthew Knight Arena Thursday night in Eugene.
Maurice Jones scored 12 points in the opening half, including a pair of three-pointers, to lead the Trojans. USC, who has shot under 40% in nine of their last 10 games, made 46.2% of their field goal attempts (12 of 26) in the first half. Seven-foot center Dewayne Dedmon added six points for the Trojans but had zero rebounds.
The problem for USC was that they were dominated inside. Oregon outrebounded the Trojans 18-6 and had 14 points in the paint compared to just six for the Trojans. Olu Ashaolu led the Ducks with nine points on 4-of-5 shooting in the opening half, while Garrett Sim added seven for Oregon.
