The USC Trojans got off to a sluggish start to begin the game.
Arizona State running back Cameron Marshall went 70 yards and scored ASU’s first touchdown on their first drive of the game. But after the score, USC’s defense stepped it up as they didn’t allow a score for the rest of the quarter.
USC freshman running back Amir Carlisle entered the game, which was a mild surprise. Head coach Lane Kiffin said in the past week that he would play Carlisle and the coach kept his word and not redshirting the true freshman.
USC safety TJ McDonald was flagged for a personal foul as he leveled Jamal Miles with an illegal hit.
USC scored on a 41-yard field goal by Andre Heidari after a missed field goal at 46 yards, but was waived off after a penalty from ASU linebacker Vontaze Burfict.
