UCLA Basketball Recruiting: Kyle Anderson Commits To Bruins, Could Influence Shabazz Muhammad

Kyle Anderson has committed to the UCLA Bruins, according to ESPN analyst Miles Simon. Anderson is ranked No. 2 by Rivals in their Recruiting Top 150 and was also considering Georgetown, Florida and Seton Hall.

The guard/forward hybrid has had UCLA at the top of his list for some time but didn't make any official declaration on his intent to play until Monday. Adding Anderson is a huge gain for the Bruins, who figure to be strong players in the Pac-12 (or whatever the conference turns out to be next year).

UCLA gains another added benefit by adding Anderson: they move up on top prospect Shabazz Muhammad's list. The two have been good friends for some time and have talked about playing together. With Anderson's commitment to UCLA, Muhammad may be tempted to join his friend in Los Angeles and form a powerful duo.

The commitment carries huge repercussions for UCLA basketball. The prospect of adding the nation's top two prospects is scary and could turn UCLA into a national powerhouse. For now, there is no official word on Muhammad. It is official, though, that Anderson has committed to being a Bruin in 2012.
