Poor First Half Dooms USC, Who Falls In Washington St, 85-77

Pullman, WA (Sports Network) - DeAngelo Casto's double-double of 24 points and 10 rebounds led the Washington State Cougars to an 85-77 victory over the USC Trojans in a Pac-10 Conference bout at Beasley Coliseum. Klay Thompson scored 22 points for the Cougars (19-10, 9-8 Pac-10), while Faisal Aden added 20 points. Nikola Vucevic recorded a double-double for the Bruins (17-13, 9-8) with 22 points and 11 boards, while Maurice Jones added 16 points and Donte Smith finished with 14 points.

Washington State was clicking offensively from the opening tip and utilized 56.7 percent first half shooting to take a commanding 41-26 lead into the break. The Cougars didn't slow down after intermission, as they drained 3-of-5 three- pointers and 17-of-21 free throws to seal the victory. USC, which saw a four-game win streak come to an end, was outrebounded 35-29 in the contest.
