USC Guard Maurice Jones Wins Pac-12 Player Of The Week

Jones leads USC in points, assists, and steals this season.

After scoring 28 points and hitting seven three-pointers without a miss on Saturday, USC Trojans sophomore guard Maurice Jones was named Pac-12 Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday. Jones led the Trojans to a 2-1 record during the week, including wins over Morgan State and South Carolina.

Jones averaged 19.0 points and 3.0 assists during the week, and made 10 of his 16 three-point attempts in three games. His signature game was Saturday in the Las Vegas Invitational, setting a USC school record by hitting seven three-pointers without a miss. He scored 19 of his 28 points in the second half, leading USC to a 63-60 win over South Carolina for third place in the tournament.

The diminutive Jones - he checks in at 57" - has been an iron man for USC this season, playing in 285 of a possible 290 minutes so far this season. He leads the team in scoring (16.0 points per game), assists (2.86 per contest), and steals (1.86 per game) this season.

Jones and USC hit the road to battle the UC Riverside Highlanders on Wednesday night.
