On Saturday evening, the USC Trojans were able to outlast the South Carolina Gamecocks in the Third Place Game at the 2011 Las Vegas Invitational.
Although the Trojans were outscored 34-33 in the second half, their first half lead of 30-26 proved to be too much for the Gamecocks to overcome.
USC's Maurice Jones put on a show, finishing the game with 28 points and was seven-for-seven on three-point attempts. He was the only player from either team to sink even one three-pointer and led all scorers. To his 28 points, he added a rebound, two assists, and two steals. Jones also led all players in the game with 39:00 of game time.
USC currently holds a record of 3-4 and will play their next game on November 30 at UC Riverside. North Carolina will play against UNLV in the finals of the Las Vegas Invitational at 7:30 PM on Saturday night. You can watch the game on ESPN3.
