Stanford Vs. Oregon Game: USC Trojans Need Ducks Win For Better TV Slot

Now that the USC Trojans have taken care of business with a 40-17 home win against the Washington Huskies on Saturday, they can sit back and watch the game of the week in college football. The No. 3 Stanford Cardinal are hosting the No. 6 Oregon Ducks Saturday night on ABC, in the battle for the Pac-12 North Division. USC has reason to root for Oregon.

The Trojans travel to Eugene next weekend to battle the Ducks, looking to avenge two consecutive losses to Oregon by a total margin of 48 points in the last two years. Why USC needs the Ducks to win is this:

  • if Oregon beats Stanford Saturday night, USC vs. Oregon will be played at 5 p.m. PST on ABC.
  • If Stanford beats Oregon Saturday night, USC vs. Oregon will be played at 7:15 p.m. PST on ESPN.

Whatever time slot the game will be, the Trojans will have their hands full. Though quarterback Matt Barkley isn't so sure, telling Scott Wolf of the Los Angeles Daily News, "I think they were better when we played them in the past."
