Derrick Woods Favors The Oklahoma Sooners

Inglewood wide receiver Derrick Woods might be the top offensive wideout on the West Coast, but he's not looking to stay there, not at least to current rumors. Greg Biggins of ESPN got this news ($) from Woods that Bob Stoops is leading for his verbal commitment to the 2012 recruiting class.

"I take the SAT in two weeks and then I can set some [official visits] up," Woods said. "I would like to visit Oklahoma, Oregon, Alabama and Arizona State and I’m not sure about the last one. I stopped hearing from Oregon and Alabama but I like Oklahoma a lot right now.

Woods has not been contacted much by both Oregon and Alabama lately and is unsure of a future visit to ASU, so you'd have to figure the Sooners are huge favorites to land him. Woods would be the second big wide receiving recruit that Oklahoma has been able to land from the southern California area. Kenny Stills has exploded in his sophomore campaign into an incredibly potent second option for Landry Jones (behind the deadly Ryan Broyles). Woods could help bolster Oklahoma back up to a top ten ranking that would help them chase down Texas in terms of overall Big 12 talent strength.
