College Football Rankings, Week 8: USC Trojans Hanging Outside Top 25

The USC Trojans still can't hit the top 25 of the college football rankings, and will need to beat Notre Dame next week to climb up.

The USC Trojans are going to be hanging on the periphery of the top 25 from here until eternity. USC is currently ranked at 27th in the AP Poll right outside the top 25, trailing Penn State and Notre Dame. Right now it looks like USC is going to have to keep on winning to get back up to that status.

The Trojans had an impressive victory over the California Golden Bears, but they'll only find their way back into the top 25 if they can put up a dominant win against Notre Dame next week in South Bend. The Trojans are really trying to prove that they're more than just Matt Barkley and Robert Woods, and a victory over their long-time rivals could go a long way.

Again, USC is ineligible for the Coaches/USA Today Poll because of their current probation period, and will not be positioned in any of the BCS rankings this season.
