USC 60, Nebraska 58: Trojans Fade In Second Half

Lincoln, NE (Sports Network) - Chris Standhardinger's jumper with 2:17 remaining proved to be the game-winning score, giving Nebraska the 60-55 lead as the Cornhuskers held on to the 60-58 victory over the USC Trojans in a non- conference bout at the Bob Devaney Sports Center. Jorge Brian Diaz scored a team-high 14 points for Nebraska (4-2). Lance Jeter added 13 points in the win, while Caleb Walker netted 10.

USC (4-3) was led by Alex Stepheson and Donte Smith who contributed 14 points apiece, while Maurice Jones scored 10. The Trojans held a rather comfortable 39-26 advantage at the intermission behind 56.7 percent shooting from the floor in the opening half.

However, the Cornhuskers outscored USC 34-19 in the second stanza, holding the Trojans to just 27.6 percent shooting from the field while connecting on 58.3 percent of their attempts en route to the comeback victory. USC had trouble drawing fouls, finding the free-throw line just twice on the night.
