College Football Rankings: Oregon Still No. 1 In USA Today Coaches Poll, Stanford Moves Up

The latest college football polls are out, and the Pac-10 continues to have three teams ranked by the USA Today coaches poll. The USC Trojans were able to rejoin the top 25 in the AP poll, but are ineligible for the coaches poll this season. Here are is the new USA Today coaches poll top 25:

  1. Oregon (46 first place votes)
  2. Auburn (6)
  3. Boise State (5)
  4. TCU (2)
  5. Wisconsin
  6. LSU
  7. Ohio State
  8. Nebraska
  9. Stanford
  10. Oklahoma State
  11. Michigan State
  12. Alabama
  13. Arkansas
  14. Oklahoma
  15. Virginia Tech
  16. Missouri
  17. South Carolina
  18. Nevada
  19. Texas A&M
  20. Iowa
  21. Miami
  22. Mississippi State
  23. Arizona
  24. Utah
  25. Northwestern

The Oregon Ducks, who had a hard-fought 15-13 win over the Cal Bears on Saturday night, retained their top spot in the coaches poll, although they lost four first-place votes from last week. The Stanford Cardinal also survived a road scare, with a 17-13 win at Arizona State, and moved up one spot, from ninth to eighth. Arizona, which lost at home to USC 24-21, dropped from 19th to 23rd.

These three teams are the only teams in the Pac-10 currently bowl eligible, and it appears tthey might only be joined by one other team, as California needs one win in their last two games to qualify for bowl season. However, if both Oregon and Stanford win out, there is a decent chance the conference will have two teams in BCS bowls for just the third time in 13 seasons.
