USC Vs. Arizona: Scoring At A Premium For Trojans

The USC Trojans had won seven straight over the Arizona Wildcats before last season, when Nick Foles led Arizona to a comeback win at the Coliseum. USC has won their last four games in Tucson, with their last loss a 31-24 defeat in 1999. Here is a look at the last five matchups between the two schools:

  • 2009: Arizona 21, at AP No. 20 USC 17
  • 2008: No. 6 USC 17, at Arizona 10
  • 2007: at No. 10 USC 20, Arizona 13
  • 2006: No. 3 USC 20, at Arizona 3
  • 2005: at No. 1 USC 42, Arizona 21

This is the first time Arizona, ranked No. 18, has been ranked higher than USC at the time of their game since 1994, when the No. 13 Wildcats lost to the No. 17 Wildcats, 45-28. USC leads the all-time series with Arizona, 26-7. This is the third time the Trojans have played Arizona and Arizona State in back-to-back weekends. In the other two times, 1980 and 2005, the Trojans won all four games.

Arizona has held USC to 20 points or less in each of their last four meetings. During that same stretch, USC has scored more than 20 points in 32 of their last 38 conference games, averaging 31.1 points in those games. Saturday night's 5 p.m. game will be broadcast by ABC (to 19% of the country) and ESPN3.
