The USC Trojans played their best game of the season on Saturday, a 48-14 pasting of the Cal Bears, and they were rewarded yesterday, as the Trojans captured two of the three player of the week honors in the Pac-10. It is the first time a USC player has won a conference player of the week award this season.
↵Quarterback Matt Barkley completed 25 of 37 passes for 352 yards and a school-record-tying five touchdowns, garnering offensive player of the week for the conference. Kicker Joe Houston had two field goals and seven extra points, and even had an effective pooch punt downed inside the 10 yard line, to win the special teams award for the week.
↵The Trojans are off this week, but host the Oregon Ducks (No. 1 in the AP and coaches polls, No. 2 in the BCS) on October 30 at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
