College Football Rankings, Week 8: USC 5 Votes Shy Of Top 25

The Associated Press college football poll is out, and as expected, USC made quite a climb from obscurity. After not receiving any votes last week, USC moved up to 26th in the AP poll after their 48-14 drubbing of the Cal Bears on Saturday.

USC received 80 points, just five points shy of the Miami Hurricanes, who are ranked 25th. USC has a bye this week, but next hosts Oregon on October 30. The Ducks are ranked number one in both the AP poll and USA Today coaches poll.

Last week, 32 teams received votes in the AP poll, and not one of them was USC. The Trojans are ineligible for the coaches poll.
