A clear opportunity for a bounce-back victory over the Colorado Buffaloes was available to the UCLA Bruins on Saturday. Led by quarterback Brett Hundley and linebacker Damien Holmes, the Bruins were able to top the Buffs, 42-14.
Over at Bruins Nation, the guys were pleased with the bounce-back effort from the team, especially from Hundley, who received praise for a variety of reasons.
Hundley keeps flipping the ball down the field to Franklin and Johnson. On a screen pass to Franklin, we think he's in the end zone but upon further review he's out at the half yard line. No problem, we'll just line up and hand off to Franklin - NO WAIT IT'S THE BEST FAKE EVER as Hundley waltzes into the end zone, absolutely untouched. 21-7 Bruins.
In a key moment following a weak offensive series, Holmes stepped up big, drawing recognition from Bruins Nation, which saw Saturday's performance as one of his best ever in a UCLA uniform.
Colorado continues to target the corners, and picks on [cornerback Sheldon] Price this series, who doesn't fall for the spin move like Hester did earlier. Thankfully, Damien Holmes comes in with the sack and Steven Manfro winds up returning the punt to the 45.
...
Congratulations to Damien Holmes, who possibly played one of the best games I've seen him play in his UCLA career.
