UCLA Vs. Rice: Bruins Defensive Depth Chart

UCLA released it's probable depth chart for Saturday's game versus Rice. The Bruins defense is coming in with a new look, moving to a three-lineman, four-linebacker scheme under new head coach Jim Mora. Mora isn't concerned with how the Bruins defense performed last season because he wasn't there to coach it. Hopefully the coach's adjustments have made the defensive corps less of a liability for UCLA.

The Defensive Line is headed up by true senior defensive end Datone Jones and true junior Cassius Marsh on the left and right sides, respectively. True junior Seali'i Epenesa will be at nose tackle and starting for the first time. Left Outside Linebacker Jordan Zumwalt played in 13 of 14 games last season with four starts and to his right is Anthony Bar. Right Inside linebacker Eric Kendricks is one of two redshirt sophomores on the defense. On his left side is redshirt senior Damien Holmes, a returning 14-game starter.

For the Secondary, true senior cornerback Sheldon Price was tied for 17th in the Pac-12 in passes defensed (0.67/g) last season. Right Cornerback Aaron Hester started 12 of 14 games last season for the Bruins. In 2011, Strong safety, redshirt senior Andrew Abbott was tied for fourth in the Pac-12 in interceptions with 0.31 per game. Rounding out the defense is free safety, redshirt sophomore Tevin McDonald. McDonald represented UCLA in Yahoo! Sports first team list for Freshman All-Americans.
