California Vs. Stanford: Bears Advance, Final Score 77-71

Andrew Zimmerman of the Stanford Cardinal had an otherworldly performance, but the California Golden Bears were able to remain the highest seed left in the Pac 12 tournament, defeating Stanford 77-71. It was the first time in 22 years that Cal and Stanford met in the Pac 12 tournament, but the rivals are plenty familiar with each other. Cal took the lead four minutes into the second half, and never let up.

Pac 12 Player of the Year Jorge Gutierrez had a monster second half, scoring nineteen points to finish with 22. He went 7-13 from the field, and added six rebounds and seven assists. Harper Kamp also had a standout game going 6-8 from the field and finishing with 17 points.

Stanford got a great performance from Andrew Zimmerman, who couldn't miss in the second half also finishing with 22 points. Despite looking like a caveman, he went 8-14 from the field. Chasson Randle was the only other Stanford player scoring in the double digits.

With the loss, the Cardinal baseball season is over. California's best non conference win was at home to Weber State, so this win over Stanford may not be enough to make their resume tournament worthy. The Golden Bears will face the winner of Oregon vs. Colorado.
