Pac-12 Basketball Tournament 2012: Cal, No. 2 Seed

The 2012 Pac-12 Men's Basketball Tournament gets underway on Wednesday afternoon at Staples Center in Los Angeles. Here is a look at the California Golden Bears, who finished with the same conference record over the Oregon Ducks, but claim the No. 2 seed due to head-to-head season record.

Team: California Golden Bears

Head Coach: Mike Montgomery, fourth season at Cal

2011-2012 Record: 23-8 overall, 13-5 in conference

RPI Rank: 37

Tournament Seed: 2

First Round Opponent: The Bears receive a first-round bye, so their first game will be in Thursday's quarterfinals. They will face off against the winner of Wednesday's opening-round game between No. 7 seed Stanford Cardinal and No. 10 seed Arizona St. Sun Devils

Season vs. Opponent: Cal defeated Stanford 69-59 in late January, but lost the regular-season finale by a final score of 75-70. In their one meeting with the Sun Devils, they easily dispatched ASU, 68-47

Up Next If They Win: If Cal advances past the quarterfinals, they would meet head to Friday's semifinal game against either the No. 3 seed Oregon Ducks or the winner of the first-round game between the sixth-seeded Colorado Buffaloes and the No. 11 seeded Utah Utes

Leading Scorer: Allen Crabbe easily leads all Cal scorers, averaging 15.4 points per game

Leading Rebounder: Richard Solomon is leading the Golden Bears with 6.2 rebounds per game

2011 Pac-12 Tournament Finish: At last year's tournament, Cal went home early. They received a first-round bye as the No. 5 seed, but were dispatched in the quarterfinals by the USC Trojans, 70-56
