Bowl projections 2012: UCLA headed for Las Vegas Bowl showdown with Boise State

It could be a pre-Christmas jaunt to Las Vegas for Bruins fans to see their squad in the postseason.

Bruins fans trying to make travel plans to see their football team in the postseason might be able to forego buying a plane ticket if traveling from Los Angeles. The latest bowl projections have the No. 17 UCLA Bruins heading to the Las Vegas Bowl to face the Boise State Broncos.

It wouldn't be the first time the Bruins have travelled to Sin City for a bowl game. They've been to the Las Vegas Bowl on three occasions, picking up their lone win over the New Mexico Lobos 27-13 on Christmas Day in 2002. The Bruins lost their 2004 appearance to the Wyoming Cowboys 24-21 and fell to BYU in 2006 by the narrowest of margins 17-16.

If the projections hold true, it would be Boise State's third straight appearance in the Las Vegas Bowl. They beat the Utah Utes in the 2010 edition 26-3 and took easy care of the Arizona St. Sun Devils last year 56-24.

UCLA will finish the season with two straight home games, first against bitter rival USC and then against the Stanford Cardinal. Boise State comes home to face the Colorado St. Rams then finishes the season in Reno against the Nevada Wolf Pack.
