UCLA vs. Arizona State score: Bruins capitalize on interception, lead 21-17 at half

The UCLA Bruins took the lead late in the first half of their game against the Arizona St. Sun Devils, taking advantage of an interception by Dalton Hilliard with less than 2 minutes remaining in the half. The Bruins lead as they head into the locker room, 21-17.

ASU quarterback Taylor Kelly opted to throw the ball rather than take a safety, and Hilliard took full advantage. UCLA took over at Arizona's five and scored a quick touchdown to go up just before the end of the half.

The game started on worse terms for UCLA, as the Sun Devils picked up two touchdowns early to go ahead 14-0. Steven Manfro muffed the opening punt, leading to ASU's first score, and a long drive where the Sun Devils run game tore up the Bruin defense led to the second.

UCLA's offense opened with a 3-and-out but went back to the run game and settled in, eventually leading to two touchdowns of their own. One came on a Johnathan Franklin run and another came on a pass to true freshman Devin Fuller. Franklin was in great form in the first half, collecting 94 yards on 13 carries. Brett Hundley has been effective but far from perfect, going 9-for-17 for 87 yards with one touchdown and one interception.

The defense has also settled in after early struggles, making key stops and holding Taylor Kelly to 90 yards and Cameron Marshall to 45.
