The UCLA Bruins opened as slight 5.5-point underdogs heading into Saturday's game at the Arizona State Sun Devils.
Both teams are sitting at a 5-2 record and coming off of different outcomes in their last game. UCLA won 21-14 against Utah on Saturday, Oct. 13., but they failed to beat the 9.5-point spread. They had a bye week this past Saturday. Arizona State lost at home to the Oregon Ducks 43-21.
The Bruins have one of the higher scoring offenses in the nation, but they will be running up against a brick wall against Arizona State's defense. The Sun Devils rank second in the nation against the pass at home. The Bruins are 25th in the nation while on the road, passing for 279 yards per game. UCLA also runs the ball quite well on the road, averaging 227.3 yards per game - good for 15th in the nation.
UCLA last beat the spread on Sept. 29 against Colorado. Barring last week's loss, Arizona State had beat the spread for three straight weeks.
