Just because college football season is in swing doesn't mean that recruiting chatter has come to a grinding halt.
The UCLA Bruins are shaping up nicely on the recruiting front for the offensive side of the game. Most importantly, the team has focused on some great offensive linemen for next year, as a number of early season injuries have left the Bruins exposed, Bruins Nation wrote.
Coach Klemm and UCLA has done a wonderful job securing a lot of highly rated offensive line recruits. All of the currently committed lineman are highly sought after players in the high 3* or 4* category. If Coach Klemm can keep the group currently committed to stick with UCLA through signing day, this could be one of the best offensive line classes in UCLA's history.
UCLA will be graduating running back Johnathan Franklin, but the team has two good commits in Craig Lee and Jalen Ortiz. Bruins Nation thinks that will be enough for the team, but recently Oregon de-commit Thomas Tyner is a five-star running back that any team would love to have on their team. Tyner is rumored to be interested in UCLA and Oregon State.
The Bruins are looking a bit thin at the quarterback position after focusing so much time on Eddie Printz, only to later determine he wasn't the player they wanted. Quarterback remains a question mark for in the recruiting realm for the Bruins.
In the meantime, the quarterback position dried up quickly, and the staff put themselves in the position to either flip one of the better local recruits, take a shot on an unheralded recruit, or not take a quarterback in this year's class.
UCLA was able to bring in a good haul in the wide receivers last year, but is rumored to not have done as well this year despite a great west coast talent pool to attract. The Bruins currently have zero commits at the position.
There is also a lot of talented WR's out west in this year's class, so it would be a good time to nab an elite WR. However, there are rumors that Coach Yarber isn't exactly setting the world on fire in the recruiting circles, and UCLA has already missed on a lot of talented prospects.
Perhaps the biggest loss for the Bruins will be at tight end, and it isn't no one is out there. There are few tight ends who stand 6'8 and are as athletic as Joseph Fauria. The Bruins are targeting Thomas Duarte and Siale Fakailoa, who are both a couple of large kids themselves.
