The UCLA Bruins basketball team is ranked No. 13 in the preseason USA Today Top 25. The Bruins have high expectations after missing the postseason in 2012.

UCLA finished with a 19-14 record last year and missed the NCAA tournament for the second time in the last three seasons despite an 11-7 conference record. The team was not without controversy, as head coach Ben Howland had to dismiss Reeves Nelson and struggled with underperforming athletes.

Arizona is the only other Pac-12 team in the poll, and they are ranked at No. 11. The Wildcats also missed the NCAA tournament despite a 12-6 league record.

The Bruins start their season on Nov. 9 against Indiana State in Pauley Pavilion. UCLA is waiting to see if guard Tyler Lamb will be available for that game, as he is recovering from surgery on his left knee. Arizona and UCLA should battle for the conference crown, and they first meet on Jan. 24.
