UCLA Football Recruiting: Tairen Owens Commits To Bruins After Leaving Washington

New UCLA Bruins head coach Jim Mora has been on quite a roll in the last few weeks on the recruiting trail and that continued on Saturday as local prospect Tairen Owens committed to the program. Owens, who was originally set to play with the Washington Huskies, decommitted after all the changes to the UW coaching staff took place last week.

He plays locally at Pasadena Muir High School and has followed UCLA for quite some time now. When secondary coach Demetrice Martin headed south from Washington and joined the Bruins staff, it was an easy decision for Owens.

"Coach Martin recruited me hard to Washington and he recruited me even harder to UCLA," Owens said. "We have built a good relationship."

Owens is ranked as a three-star prospect by most scouting services and has seen his stock rise a bit after an impressive senior season. It remains to be seen which position he plays in college, but his desire to play with coach Martin says a lot about where he feels he will end up.
