Lazeric Jones scored 11 points and had four assists in the first half, leading the UCLA Bruins to a 40-36 halftime lead after a hot-shooting 20 minutes at the Los Angeles Sports Arena. Travis Wear added four points and four rebounds for the Bruins.
Colorado opened the game on a 9-2 run in just over three minutes, a stretch that including three consecutive turnovers by UCLA. A three-pointer by Austin Dufault gave the Buffaloes their biggest lead of the game, a 12-4 advantage with 15:34 remaining in the first half. But that's when the Bruins began their run.
UCLA went on a 22-4 run over the next six minutes to seize temporary control, a run that included three-pointers by Norman Powell, Tyler Lamb, Jerime Anderson, and Jones. The Bruins shot 57.7% (15 for 26) from the field in the first half and shot 75% (six for eight) from beyond the arc. Lamb scored eight points for UCLA.
Dufault led Colorado with eight points in the first half. The Buffaloes shot 55.6% (15 for 27) in the opening half, including three for six from three-point range. Spencer Dinwiddie scored seven points and had three assists for the Buffaloes.
