UCLA ran with their first-half lead when play resumed and never looked back. Penn looked overmatched and winded as the Bruins padded their lead.
Penn made a late push in the second half, closing the gap to 76-70 in the final two minutes, but missed several scoring chances and ran out of time, managing only a last-second three-pointer to arrive at the final score of 77-73.
UCLA's leading scorer was Lazeric Jones, who racked up 21 points, four rebounds and four assists. Also contributing was center Joshua Smith, who had 12 points and six rebounds. Forwards Travis Wear and David Wear also shone in the game. Travis finished with 12 points and four rebounds, while David earned himself a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Pennsylvania's Tyler Bernardini led all scorers in the game. The guard finished with 29 points, seven rebounds and three assists.
