Pac-12 Championship Game 2011: Arizona St. Vs. Cal Friday Night On ESPN Looms Large

With one week to go before the first-ever Pac-12 Championship Football Game, there are still three teams alive in the Pac-12 South Division. The UCLA Bruins lead the division, with both the Utah Utes and Arizona State Sun Devils one game behind. Both Utah and ASU play games on Friday, needing wins plus help for a berth in the Pac-12 title tilt.

ASU needs to win at home against the Cal Bears on Friday night, have Utah beat Colorado, then have UCLA lose to the USC Trojans on Saturday night. The Sun Devils would prevail in a three-team tiebreaker. A Utah loss Friday afternoon would eliminate both Utah and ASU from the Pac-12 South race. Should Utah win, an ASU win on Friday night would then eliminate Utah.

The Sun Devils look to snap a three-game losing streak on Friday night against Cal. Here are the details of that contest:

  • Game Time: 7:15 p.m. PST
  • Location: Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, Arizona
  • TV: ESPN, with Mike Patrick, Craig James, and Samantha Steele on the call
  • Odds: Arizona State is favored by six points over Cal, per Odds Shark
  • Series History: Cal leads the series with ASU 16-14, including wins in each of the last three years. Arizona State is 10-7 all-time against Cal in Tempe

The inaugural Pac-12 Championship Football Game will be played on Friday, December 2 at 5 p.m. PT on Fox. For more UCLA football news and information, be sure to read Bruins Nation.
