UCLA Safety Tevin McDonald Named Pac-12 Defensive Player Of The Week

UCLA Bruins redshirt freshman safety had a fantastic game against the Cal Golden Bears on Saturday, tying the school record with three interceptions in the Bruins' 31-14 triumph at the Rose Bowl. On Monday, McDonald was rewarded as the Bank of the West Defensive Player of the Week by the Pac-12.

McDonald was the fifth Bruin to record three interceptions in one game, and he also tied the Pac-12 freshman record with those three picks. McDonald also recorded three tackles. He is the first UCLA Bruin to win a conference player of the week award this season.

It was a busy Monday for the McDonald family. Tevin's brother T.J., a safety at USC, was suspended for the first half Friday against the Colorado Buffaloes for a hit on Chris Owusu in the loss to the Stanford Cardinal on Saturday night. Both Tevin and T.J. are sons of former USC All-American and former NFL All-Pro safety Tim McDonald.

Tevin McDonald and the Bruins battle Arizona State Sun Devils on Saturday at the Rose Bowl, with the winner grabbing first place in the Pac-12 South Division.
