Honeycutt Leads UCLA Over UC Davis, 74-67

Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - Tyler Honeycutt registered a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds to help lead the UCLA Bruins to a 74-67 win over the UC Davis Aggies in non-conference action at Pauley Pavilion. Also scoring in double figures for the Bruins (5-4) were Malcolm Lee with a team-high 15 points, followed by Reeves Nelson and Lazeric Jones with 13 and 10 points, respectively, while Joshua Smith made an impact with 10 rebounds in the triumph.

The Aggies (4-6) were paced by Josh Ritchart, who tallied a season-high 23 points off the bench as he knocked down 5-of-6 shots behind the three-point line, followed by Joe Harden and Mark Payne who dropped in 16 and 14 points, respectively, as the team lost for the second time in the last three outings.

UCLA ran out to a quick 7-0 lead in the first half and never looked back, the team shooting a solid 45.7 percent from the field and 4-of-9 behind the three- point line in the period to claim a 40-27 advantage at the break.

UC Davis closed the gap to single digits in the second half as it made good on an even 50 percent from the floor, but the deficit proved to be too great for the visitors as they bowed in the seven-point decision.

With the help of Honeycutt and Smith the Bruins easily controlled the glass, 44-29, helping the group to combat just 9-of-17 shooting at the free-throw line and 14 turnovers on the night.

With the victory the Bruins now have back-to-back wins for the first time since they began the 2010-11 campaign with three straight triumphs. Coincidently, all five of UCLA's wins have come against programs within the Golden State boundaries.
