UCLA Loses To Arizona State, 55-34

Tempe, AZ (Sports Network) - Brock Osweiler threw for 380 yards and four touchdowns, and ran for another score as the Arizona State Sun Devils downed the UCLA Bruins 55-34 in a Pac-10 game at Sun Devil Stadium. Osweiler was 27-of-36 through the air for the Sun Devils (5-6, 3-5 Pac-10) who kept their bowl hopes alive with a win. Deantre Lewis caught six balls for 105 yards, while Aaron Pflugrad caught two touchdown passes. Cameron Mitchell carried 17 times for 147 yards and a touchdown.

Richard Brehaut was 33-of-56 through the air for the Bruins for 321 yards and three scores but it wasn't enough to keep the Bruins (4-7, 2-6) from having their bowl hopes extinguished. Taylor Embree caught nine balls for 105 yards, Nelson Rosario also caught nine passes, one for a touchdown, while Johnathan Franklin carried 14 times for 73 yards. The Bruins opened the scoring when Brehaut scored on a 12-yard run 2:54 into the opening period.

Kai Forbath extended the UCLA lead to 10-0 with a 40-yard field goal at the 5:26 mark. Brehaut made it a 17-0 game when he found Randall Carroll on a 46-yard scoring strike with 2:33 remaining. Arizona State got on the scoreboard when Osweiler connected with Pflugrad on a five-yard touchdown toss with 1:16 still to go in the opening quarter.

Osweiler brought his team closer when he found Mike Willie on a 32-yard touchdown connection with 13:38 left in the first half. The Sun Devils took the lead on Osweiler's third touchdown pass of the half, a seven-yard strike to Gerell Robinson with 1:11 left in the first half. Forbath brought UCLA to within a point at 21-20 with a 37-yard field goal on the final play of the first half. Arizona State extended its lead when Thomas Weber booted a 21-yard field goal with 12:51 left in the third period.

Brehaut hit on his third touchdown pass of the day when he connected with Rosario on a 21-yard throw at the 1:25 mark. Arizona State responded immediately when Jeff Locke returned the ensuing kickoff 99 yards to the end zone just 14 seconds later. Osweiler started off the fourth quarter by hitting Pflugrad on a 15-yard scoring route with 13:33 left in the game.

Weber added a 37-yard field goal with 10:59 left. Osweiler ran 15 yards for a touchdown with 3:47 left in the game before Brehaut found Joseph Fauria with a four-yard scoring pass with 2:55 remaining. Arizona State piled up 595 yards in total offense. The Sun Devils averaged 8.4 yards per offensive snap.
