UCLA's Reeves Nelson Wins Pac-10 Player Of The Week

The college basketball season is underway, and the UCLA Bruins are off to a fine start, at 3-0. They won a pair of games in the NIT Season Tip-Off last week, and to the victors go the spoils. Reeves Nelson was named Pac-10 conference player of the week, the school announced Monday.

Nelson averaged 20.5 points and 12.5 rebounds last week, and made 18 of his 26 field goal attempts. He had 20 points and 11 boards in the Bruins' 79-69 win over Pepperdine, and then had 21 points and 14 rebounds in their 57-44 win over Pacific. On the season, Nelson is shooting 75%, making 24 of his 32 shots.

The sophomore won his first player of the week award, and the 52nd weekly award in the storied history of UCLA basketball. Nikola Vucevic of the USC Trojans was also nominated for the award. The Bruins face the No. 7 Villanova Wildcats on Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden in the semifinals of the NIT Season Tip-Off.
