The Los Angeles Dodgers look to snap their three-game losing streak as they conclude their 10-game road trip with a weekend series against the San Francisco Giants. Here is a look at the weekend pitching matchups and broadcast television schedule.

Friday, 7:15 p.m. PDT (Prime Ticket)

The Dodgers have been able to avoid Matt Cain in their first two series against the Giants, but cannot do so in the third series, facing Cain (10-3, 2.74 ERA) in the opener Friday night at AT&T Park. The Dodgers haven't yet announced their starter, in place of new Marlins hurler Nathan Eovaldi, but all signs point to Stephen Fife getting the call in the opener. Fife (0-0, 1.50) would be making his second big league start.

Saturday, 1:05 p.m. (Fox)

Chad Billingsley (5-9, 4.15) makes his second start since returning from the disabled list, facing off with Barry Zito (8-6, 3.75). Both pitchers are making their third start against the other team this season.

Sunday, 1:05 p.m. (Prime Ticket)

Clayton Kershaw (7-6, 3.14) saw the wheels fall off on Tuesday in St. Louis, allowing eight runs for just the second time in his career. He looks to get back on track against the Giants, facing Ryan Vogelsong (8-4, 2.26) for the third time this season. Kershaw has allowed just four total runs in 14 innings against San Francisco this season, but took the loss in both games.

The Dodgers are three games behind the Giants in the National League West.

The Los Angeles Dodgers dropped their third straight game to the St. Louis Cardinals, allowing 18 hits to the red birds in a 7-4 loss at Busch Stadium. With the loss the Dodgers dropped to three games back in the National League West.

Chris Capuano (10-6) allowed six runs and 11 hits in 4 1/3 innings, suffering his sixth loss of the season. Four of those runs came in the fifth inning, when the Cardinals had seven consecutive batters reach base, including five hits.

The Dodgers rallied for four runs in the fifth inning, briefly taking a lead, with five straight hits of their own, but Cardinals starter Jake Westbrook (9-8) was still able to last seven innings for the win. St. Louis starters have pitched at least six innings for each of their last 21 games.

Hanley Ramirez was 1-for-2 with two walks and a stolen base in his second game as a Dodger.

Matt Holliday homered for the Cardinals, his 17th of the season.

The Dodgers move on, concluding their 10-game road trip with a weekend series in San Francisco against the Giants. The Dodgers will face Matt Cain, but their own starter hasn't yet been announced. It is expected to be either Allen Webster or Stephen Fife.

The Los Angeles Dodgers made a roster move before Thursday's series finale against the St. Louis Cardinals, one that could affect their next series as well. Adam Kennedy was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a right groin strain, and reliever Shawn Tolleson was recalled from Triple A Albuquerque.

Kennedy to the disabled list was expected, as he aggravated the injury Tuesday night and he could have gone on the disabled list as early as Wednesday, especially since the Dodgers needed to clear a roster spot for Randy Choate, acquired from the Miami Marlins in the Hanley Ramirez trade.

But instead, Tolleson was optioned to Triple A on Wednesday. But after the Dodgers played their third 12-inning game in their last seven games on Wednesday, Tolleson is back one day later to bolster the bullpen.

This could affect Friday's starting pitcher for the Dodgers in San Francisco. Stephen Fife is on the 40-man roster and made his major league debut on July 17. He was thought to be the in-house favorite to start in place of Nathan Eovaldi, who was traded to Miami. But because Fife was optioned on July 18 he can't be recalled until Saturday without a disabled list move as options must last at least 10 days unless replacing an injured player. That injured player could have been Kennedy but since he was placed on the disabled list on Thursday that muddles the picture for Friday.

The Dodgers could have Chad Billingsley start on three days rest on Friday with Fife called up to pitch Saturday, but that seems unlikely. A more likely option could be Allen Webster, who is scheduled to start for Double A Chattanooga on Thursday evening. To complicate things further, Webster is not on the 40-man, so he would require a corresponding roster move.

Of the rumored trade targets for the Dodgers, Ryan Dempster started Wednesday, James Shields is starting Thursday morning, and Matt Garza might be ready to pitch Friday but is with his wife who is expected to give birth this weekend.

So for Friday's Dodger starter, stay tuned...

A former Dodgers infielder ruined the debut of. a new Dodgers infielder on Wednesday night in St. Louis. Rafael Furcal singled to left field under the glove of Tony Gwynn Jr. to score pinch runner Joe Kelly from second base, giving the Cardinals a 3-2 win in 12 innings over the Dodgers.

The loss spoiled the Dodgers debut of Hanley Ramirez, who played third base and went 2-for-4 with a walk on the day he was acquired from the Miami Marlins. Ramirez tripled in his first at-bat in the second inning and scored the first run of the game, and he drove in the Dodgers' second run with an RBI single in the sixth inning.

Aaron Harang allowed two runs in 7 1/3 innings, his third start of his last four lasting at least seven innings. Harang walked four and struck out eight in the no-decision. The Dodgers issued seven walks on the night, a constant source of consternation for manager Don Mattingly, who was ejected by home plate umpire Jeff Kellogg in the 10th inning.

Jamey Wright took the loss for the Dodgers, pitching 1 1/3 innings. Wright allowed three of the Cardinals' six hits on the night.

Fernando Salas pitched two scoreless innings in relief for the win for the Cardinals.

Chris Capuano goes for his 11th win in the series finale on Thursday morning for the Dodgers, facing Jake Westbrook for the Cardinals.

The Los Angeles Dodgers made their first foray into the trade market on Wednesday, adding Hanley Ramirez and Randy Choate from the Miami Marlins. Both arrived in time for Wednesday's game with the St. Louis Cardinals, necessitating a roster move.

The Dodgers traded pitcher Nathan Eovaldi in the deal to get Ramirez and Choate, so that opened up one spot on the active roster. The other spot was created by optioning relief pitcher Shawn Tolleson to Triple A Albuquerque.

Tolleson had a 5.40 ERA in 11 appearances with the Dodgers, but he had improved in July with a 3.86 ERA in six appearances with seven strikeouts in seven innings. Tolleson retired 15 batters in a row at one point.

To make room on the 40-man roster for Choate, the Dodgers transferred reliever Todd Coffey to the 60-day disabled list. Coffey is out for the season after tearing the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow that required Tommy John surgery.

The Los Angeles Dodgers look to rebound from Tuesday's loss as they battle the St. Louis Cardinals on Wednesday night at Busch Stadium. But the Dodgers' lineup got a boost on Wednesday with the addition of Hanley Ramirez, who was traded by the Miami Marlins. Ramirez is starting for the Dodgers on Wednesday and playing third base.

Ramirez, hitting .246/.322/.438 with 14 home runs on the year, is hitting fifth for the Dodgers on Wednesday night. Earlier Wednesday manager Don Mattingly made it clear where he thought Ramirez should hit.

"I look at him more as a middle of the order guy," Mattingly said.

Clayton Kershaw allowed a season-high eight runs as the Los Angeles Dodgers lost to the St. Louis Cardinals 8-2 on Tuesday night at Busch Stadium. The loss snapped the Dodgers' five-game winning streak and snapped an eight-game winning streak by the Dodgers over the Cardinals.

An RBI double by Juan Rivera and a run-scoring single by Luis Cruz in the fourth inning gave the Dodgers a 2-0 lead. Kershaw held that lead until the fifth, when three consecutive hits with two outs tied the game.

The wheels then came off in the sixth, when the Cardinals rallied for six runs, including two inherited runs scoring on a double allowed by reliever Josh Lindblom. St. Louis pitcher Adam Wainwright, who hit an RBI double in the fifth inning, followed with a bases loaded walk in the sixth.

But on the mound, Wainwright was even better, allowing two runs in 7 1/3 innings, striking out seven while walking just one.

Aaron Harang gets the start for the Dodgers on Wednesday night in the third game of the series, against Kyle Lohse of the Cardinals.

The Los Angeles Dodgers look for their sixth straight win on Tuesday night as they face the St. Louis Cardinals in the second game of a four-game series at Busch Stadium. The Dodgers will look to do so without catcher A.J. Ellis, who is out of the lineup for the third time in five games.

Ellis sat in Friday's series opener in New York, then sat on Saturday with left knee inflammation. However, an MRI exam showed no serious damage and Ellis caught the next two games. Matt Treanor starts at catcher for the Dodgers on Tuesday.

In his first year as a starter, the 31-year old Ellis has proved quite durable, tied for fifth in the major leagues with 75 starts behind the plate. In the batters box Ellis has been an asset as well, hitting .278/.392/.403, ranking second on the team in on-base percentage behind Matt Kemp.
