The Los Angeles Angels managed to take three out of four games from the Baltimore Orioles to wrap up their first half and head into the All-Star break. The Halos captured the final game of the series on Sunday as Brad Mills and the Los Angeles bullpen shut out the O's for the second straight game by a final score of 6-0.

The Angels picked up a run in the bottom of the second inning on a two-out Erick Aybar home run, then tacked on another three runs in the bottom of the third, courtesy of Mike Trout's 12th home run of the year and the 14th round-tripper from Albert Pujols.

Maicer Izturis hit an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth to make it 5-0 and then Mark Trumbo added the exclamation mark in the fifth with his 22nd home run to tack on one last run.

Mills held the Orioles to just three hits and no walks in five innings, while striking out six Baltimore batters. The Angels bullpen allowed just two more hits and two walks the rest of the way.

The Los Angeles Angels took a 2-1 lead in their four-game series against the Baltimore Orioles with a big shutout win at Angel Stadium on Saturday night. Jered Weaver improved to 10-1 with eight dominating innings in a 3-0 shutout win for Los Angeles.

The Angels opened the scoring in the bottom of the fourth when Howie Kendrick drove in Mark Trumbo with an RBI single. Two more runs came in the bottom of the seventh, thanks to an RBI double by Torii Hunter and an RBI single by Kendrys Morales. That would prove to be more than enough run support for Weaver.

Weaver allowed just three hits and one walk in eight innings, striking out five Orioles batters and lowering his ERA to 1.96. Scott Downs pitched a perfect ninth inning and picked up his eighth save as he combined with Weaver for the shutout.

The Halos have assured themselves at least a series split heading into the All-Star break. However, they will try to secure the series win on Sunday in the last game before the break.

On Friday night, the Los Angeles Angels hosted the Baltimore Orioles in the second game of a four-game series. The two teams swapped homers, but the Angels came up on the losing end by the final score of 3-2.

Mark Trumbo gave the Angels a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning, when he hit his 21st home run of the season to right center field.

The lead was short-lived, as Steve Pearce hit a three-run homer of his own to left field in the top of the fifth to stake the Orioles to a 3-1 lead.

Mike Trout was able to get the Halos a run closer as he smacked his 11th home run of the year to center field, but the Angels were unable to get any closer.

C.J. Wilson put together a quality start, allowing three runs on four hits and three walks over seven innings, but the Pearce home run saddled him with the loss. The Angels will try to pick up another win on Saturday to ensure at least a series split.

The Los Angeles Angels promoted right-handed pitcher Eric Hurley from Triple A Salt Lake on Friday before their game against the Baltimore Orioles at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, a move to add depth to the bullpen in the final weekend heading into the All-Star break.

Hurley was 7-7 with a 5.38 ERA in 17 starts for Salt Lake, though he is not expected to start on Sunday, which would have been Dan Haren's turn in the rotation. Haren was placed on the disabled list on Wednesday. Sunday's starter still hasn't been named, but it likely won't be Hurley, per Joe McIntyre of MLB.com.

With an overworked bullpen of late and the All-Star break approaching, the Los Angeles Angels made a roster move after their 9-7 win over the Baltimore Orioles on Thursday night. Garrett Richards, the starting pitchers for the Halos on Thursday, was optioned to Triple A Salt Lake after the game, per Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times.

The move seems more procedural than anything since Richards wont start again until after the All-Star break, and the Angels need bullpen help, which will come in the form of a corresponding move on Friday.

Richards pitched 4 1/3 innings on Thursday, Ervin Santana pitched just 1 1/3 innings on Wednesday, and Dan Haren lasted just 4 1/3 innings on Tuesday. That's 15 bullpen innings pitched in the last three days for the Angels, including 2 2/3 innings from LaTroy Hawkins, who has pitched for three straight days.

Richards has been serviceable for the Angels with a 4.21 ERA in eight games, including seven starts. But he has allowed 19 hits and 17 runs (12 earned runs) in 8 2/3 innings over his last two starts.

In an odd twist, the Orioles also demoted Thursday's starting pitcher, Jake Arrieta (3-9, 6.13 ERA) after the game, per Britt Ghiroli of MLB.com.

On Thursday night, the Los Angeles Angels kicked off their last series before the All-Star break. The Baltimore Orioles came to town and ended up losing the first game of a four-game set at Angel Stadium by a final score of 9-7

Jim Thome got the scoring started in the top of the first with an RBI single, but Kendrys Morales answered back with an RBI single of his own in the bottom of the frame to tie things up.

The Orioles scored three runs in the top of the second to take a 4-1 lead after Mark Reynolds and Ryan Flaherty hit back-to-back homers to lead off the inning and Matt Wieters added an RBI groundout. In the bottom of the second. Erick Aybar hit an RBI single and Mike Trout hit a sacrifice fly to close the gap to 4-3.

Wieters hit a three-run home run in the top of the fourth that made it 7-3, but the Angels once again answered back with a big inning of their own in the bottom of the inning. The Halos scored five runs to take 8-7 lead, thanks to an RBI single from Howie Kendrick, another Trout sacrifice fly and two more RBI singles from Torii Hunter and Morales.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, Trout stole third base and came in to score on a throwing error by Wieters for a big insurance run. The Angels bullpen managed to hold things down the rest of the way for the Angels win.

Trout finished the game 2-for-2 with a pair of sacrifice flies, a walk and three stolen bases. Morales was 3-for-4 with three RBI. Los Angeles starter Garrett Richards gave up seven runs on 10 hits and two walks over 4.1 innings, but thanks to the big Angels offense, he wasn't handed a loss. LaTroy Hawkins picked up the win and Ernesto Frieri notched his 11th save of the season.
