The Los Angeles Dodgers completed their weekend sweep of the Washington Nationals with a 2-0 victory on Sunday afternoon at Dodger Stadium. Chris Capuano pitched scoreless ball into the seventh for his third win of the season, and Kenley Jansen closed out the victory for his second save of the season.

The game was scoreless until the bottom of the sixth inning, when Gio Gonzalez suddenly got wild. Gonzalez to that point had a 25-inning scoreless streak, but issued consecutive one-out walks to Matt Kemp, Andre Ethier, and Juan Uribe. That set the stage for James Loney, who served a two-strike curve ball into left field for a two-run single and a 2-0 Dodgers lead.

Capuano struck out nine while allowing just three hits and two walks, pitching 6 2/3 innings for his third win of the season. Josh Lindblom recorded four outs to get the ball to Kenley Jansen, who pitched over struggling closer Javy Guerra on Sunday because Jansen was "the freshest arm," per manager Don Mattingly after the game.

After the game, the Dodgers optioned pitcher Nathan Eovaldi to Double A Chattanooga. Eovaldi was recalled on Friday but didn't pitch in any of the three games against the Nationals.

The Dodgers head to Colorado to battle the Rockies at Coors Field for the start of a six-game road trip. Aaron Harang starts Monday for the Dodgers, facing Juan Nicasio of the Rockies.

The Los Angeles Dodgers look to complete a sweep of the Washington Nationals on Sunday afternoon at Dodger Stadium. Chris Capuano takes the mound for the Dodgers while Gio Gonzalez takes the hill for the Nationals in a battle of pitchers in search of their third win of the season.

Leadoff hitter Dee Gordon is hitting .210 with a .253 on-base percentage so far this season, and he has Sunday off against a tough lefty in Gonzalez. Manager Don Mattingly said it was a planned day off for Gordon.

Jerry Hairston Jr. was hit in the left hand by a pitch Saturday night and though his hand is sore on Sunday he is available to pinch hit. Juan Rivera, who strained his left hamstring Tuesday, is also available to hit and could play first base if needed, Mattingly said. Rivera pinch hit on Saturday night, his first game action in four days.

Saturday night featured seven strong innings from both Chad Billingsley and Stephen Strasburg. It featured the major league debut of 19-year old super prospect Bryce Harper. But Dodger Stadium on Saturday night will mostly be remembered for Matt Kemp hitting a walk-off home run to give the Los Angeles Dodgers a 4-3 win over the Washington Nationals in 10 innings.

"I can't say enough good things about Matt," said Billingsley, who struck out six while allowing just one run in his seven innings of work.

Javy Guerra faltered for the third game in a row, leading to a 3-1 lead for Washington heading into the bottom of the ninth, but the Dodgers rallied for two runs on three hits and three wild pitches to tie the game and send it into extra innings.

"Even during that game I was proud of those guys, the way they bounced back in the ninth," manager Don Mattingly said. "To go down a couple runs to that club over there late, then to be able to scratch those runs out and be able to win it like that, it's really a good feeling for our club."

Kemp's home run was his 11th of the season, breaking the Dodgers franchise record for home runs in April, previously set by Gary Sheffield 12 years ago. After his game-winning homer off southpaw Tom Gorzelanny, Kemp now has 16 hits in 27 at-bats against left-handers this season, with five home runs.

The crowd of 54,242 at Dodger Stadium chanted "M-V-P" for Kemp after the game as his postgame interview for television was played on the left field video board.

"It's always good to see the crowd. That's the Dodger Stadium I remember, two or three years ago," Kemp said after the game. "Every Friday and Saturday we were filling out the whole stands with 56,000 screaming fans. It helps a lot when you have those guys on your side. We have some great fans and if we could get them to come out to more games it would be way easier to win games."

Chris Capuano starts the finale for the Dodgers, who go for the sweep facing Gio Gonzalez for Washington.

The baseball world sets their sights on Dodger Stadium on Saturday night as the most heralded prospect in all of baseball, Bryce Harper, will make his major league debut for the Washington Nationals. The Los Angeles Dodgers will look for their second win over the Nationals in as many nights as Chad Billingsley takes the mound in search of his second win of the season.

Starting on the hill for the Nationals on Saturday is Stephen Strasburg, who was the No. 1 overall draft pick by the Nationals in 2009, one year before they took Harper.

Harper becomes the youngest player ever to debut in a Nationals uniform, at 19 years, 195 days old, per the Elias Sports Bureau. The previous youngest National was Ryan Zimmerman at 20 years, 338 days old in 2005, and Zimmerman was the man who was placed on the disabled list to make room for Harper on the roster.

Harper will bat seventh for Washington and start in left field. Here are Saturday's starting lineups:

Nationals (14-6)

The Los Angeles Dodgers will look for their second straight victory on Saturday at Dodger Stadium, but the main focus in Los Angeles will be the major league debut of Bryce Harper, who was recalled from Triple A Syracuse and will start in left field for the Washington Nationals in the second game of a three-game series.

Harper at 19 years, 195 days old will be the youngest player to make his major league debut since Felix Hernandez debuted for the Seattle Mariners at 19 years, 118 days old on August 4, 2005. Harper is the youngest to debut at Dodger Stadium since Adrian Beltre was 19 years, 78 days old on June 24, 1998.

The No. 1 overall draft pick in 2010, Harper is easily the most discussed prospect in baseball, and if he's not the number one overall position player prospect in the game then he's a close second behind Mike Trout, who was also recalled by the Los Angeles Angels and will play left field Saturday in Cleveland.

Harper was hitting .250/.333/.378 with one home run in 20 games in Syracuse, but he was also by far the youngest player in Triple A.

The debut of Harper overshadows the No. 1 overall pick from the year before he was picked, Stephen Strasburg, who has been stellar so far this season, which is pretty much par for the course for the Nationals' pitching staff. Strasburg is 2-0 in four starts and has only allowed three runs, good for a 1.08 ERA, with 25 strikeouts and six walks in 25 innings.

But the Nationals aren't the only 14-6 team taking the field Saturday night at Dodger Stadium. The Dodgers beat Washington Friday night behind Clayton Kershaw and Andre Ethier, and will look for more of the same behind Chad Billingsley on Saturday. Billingsley is coming off his worst start of the season, allowing nine runs on Sunday in Houston, but on the season is 2-1 with a 3.04 ERA. Billingsley has 19 strikeouts and five walks in 24 innings.

Clayton Kershaw pitched eight strong innings Friday night, leading the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 3-2 win over the Washington Nationals in the opener of a three-game series at Dodger Stadium. He was backed by a first-inning two-run home run from Andre Ethier, who took Ross Detwiler deep for his first home run off a left-hander this season.

"Anytime you get runs early like that, it's awesome," Kershaw said.

Kershaw allowed just three hits and a walk, though one of the hits was a two-run home run by Adam LaRoche that cut the Dodgers' 3-0 advantage to just one run. But Kershaw battled through for his 12th straight home win, tying a Los Angeles Dodgers franchise record.

"I was able to throw the pitches I needed to," Kershaw said. "There wasn't anything pretty about it, but I was able to battle through it."

The Dodgers are now 7-3 in one-run games, and are tied with the Nationals at 14-6 for the best record in the National League.

Chad Billingsley takes the mound for the Dodgers tomorrow, but he will face two of the most hyped No. 1 overall draft picks in recent memory in Stephen Strasburg and Bryce Harper, the latter making his major league debut.

Before their game Friday night with the Washington Nationals, the Los Angeles Dodgers recalled pitcher Nathan Eovaldi from Double A Chattanooga. Left-handed pitcher Michael Antonini, who didn't get to pitch in either of his two games with the big club in his first big league stint, was optioned to Triple A Albuquerque to make room for Eovaldi.

"It was planned from the beginning when we brought Antonini. With Atlanta being lefty heavy, we really wanted to have another lefty out there," manager Don Mattingly said before the game. "We thought about bringing Eo because it would be short term."

Eovaldi, 22, was 1-2 with a 3.63 ERA for the Dodgers last season. He made six starts before shifting to the bullpen in September to limit his innings. Eovaldi was pulled from his start on Wednesday with Chattanooga after just one inning, in preparation for his callup. This season in Double A, Eovaldi had a 2.08 ERA with three walks and 14 strikeouts in 13 innings.

Eovaldi is the sixth starter on the depth chart, the first one they would go to should a starter go down, and his time with the Dodgers is expected to be brief, as Todd Coffey is expected to return from the disabled list on Sunday. But that doesn't make the call any less special to Eovaldi.

"It's still a great call to get," Eovaldi said. "I was still pretty excited about it."

The Los Angeles Dodgers look to snap a two-game losing streak Friday night as they open a three-game series against the Washington Nationals at Dodger Stadium. Juan Rivera, who strained his left hamstring while running to first base on Tuesday night, is out of the lineup for the second straight game Friday.

Rivera hit and took ground balls before the game, and manager Don Mattingly said he hoped Rivera would be able to avoid the disabled list. "We're still hopeful that he doesn't have to go on the DL, and that maybe it's just a couple of days," Mattingly said.

Clayton Kershaw starts for the Dodgers, looking for his second win of the season. Ross Detwiler and his 0.56 ERA start for the Nationals.
