Excitement was palpable at the United Center in Chicago as the 2012 McDonald's High School All-American Game got underway Wednesday night, with Kyle Anderson on hand to represent UCLA's recruiting class on the East team and La Verna Lutheran's Grant Jerrett on the West. But it was Bishop Gorman's (Las Vegas, NV) Shabazz Muhammad who stole the show, taking MVP honors in the West squad's 106-102 victory.

The West got out to a 20 point lead in the second half, though the East fought back to get the game back to within four with under two minutes to play. They would eventually hold on to win by that margin, with MVP honors unanimously headed to Muhammad, who has UCLA on his short list of possible schools he will commit to.

Muhammad finished with 19 points on the night, showing why he is the consensus No. 2 top recruit in the nation. Both Anderson and Jerrett got themselves a good share of minutes as well.

Kyle Anderson has already committed to the Bruins, while Shabazz Muhammad included UCLA in his top-three schools earlier in the week.

The McDonald's All American Game has become a historic event over the years and the UCLA Bruins will be represented well on Wednesday evening.

Five-star forward Kyle Anderson has already given his pledge to join Ben Howland in Westwood next season, while there is a solid possibility that Shabazz Muhammad, arguably the nation's No. 1 prospect, could be joining him as well.

The game is scheduled to tip off at 8:30 p.m. in Chicago, which is 6:30 on the west coast. ESPN will have live coverage of the event.

Anderson will play for the East Team, while Muhammad will represent the West Team. The McDonald's All American Game is always a terrific event and it will likely be the final chance for Bruins fans to check out their prospects before taking their games to Los Angeles next fall.

Here is a link to the complete rosters for both teams.
