The Anaheim Ducks hosted the Buffalo Sabres on Wednesday night. The Sabres managed to pick up the Leap Day victory to truly become the Ducks' Eastern Conference counterpart. The two teams now have 64 points and 27 losses each. The Sabres won by a final score of 2-0.

The true star of the night was Buffalo goalie Ryan Miller, who stopped every one of the 43 shots on goal taken by the Ducks. Anaheim goalie Jonas Hiller did not fare as well on his end of the ice, saving just 22 of 24 shots.

The Sabres scored at 7:12 of the first period on a power play goal by Derek Roy, his 14th goal of the season. That would end up being the only offense Buffalo would need, but Brad Boyes added his fourth goal of the season at 8:16 in the second period for insurance.

The Buffalo Sabres will visit the Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday night in Southern California. The teams are quite evenly matched and will be trying for a Leap Day victory.

If the Anaheim Ducks have a comparable counterpart in the Eastern Conference this season, it would likely be the Buffalo Sabres. The two teams have similar point totals, rank similarly within their conference and have nearly identical records over their last 10 games.

The Ducks will host their East Coast doppelgangers on Wednesday night in Anaheim. Anaheim is hoping to finish their season strong and have performed well throughout the month of February. They'll be gunning for the rare opportunity at a Leap Day victory.

The puck will drop on Wednesday night's game at 7:00 p.m. PT. You can watch the game on Prime Ticket or listen to the radio broadcast on AM 830.
