<p><span>Drew Doughty</span> scored 38 seconds into overtime, giving the <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="https://www.jewelsfromthecrown.com/">Los Angeles Kings</a> a 1-0 win over the <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/teams/phoenix-coyotes">Phoenix Coyotes</a> on Thursday night at Staples Center. The Kings have a point in nine straight games (6-0-3), and are 5-0-3 under new head coach Darryl Sutter.</p>
<p>Doughty's goal was his third tally of the season, assisted by <span>Jarret Stoll</span> and <span>Jack Johnson</span>. It made a winner of <span>Jonathan Quick</span>, who saved all 22 shots for the win. Quick recorded his NHL-leading sixth shutout of the year. Quick is 6-0-2 in his last eight starts.</p>
<p><span>Mike Smith</span> saved 27 of 28 shots for Phoenix in defeat. Both teams had one power play in the game, and the King outshot the Coyotes 28-22 for the contest.</p>
<p>The Coyotes are 1-4-2 in their last seven games. The Kings are 3-0-1 against Phoenix this season. The Kings host the <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="https://www.jacketscannon.com/">Columbus Blue Jackets</a> Saturday afternoon at Staples Center.</p>

The Kings are 4-0-3 under new head coach Darryl Sutter, having yet to lose in regulation, and are 5-0-3 in their last eight games.</p>
<p>Thursday is the third game of a six-game homestand for the Kings. The club is still struggling offensively, with 14 goals in seven games under Sutter, but they have shown pockets of success with a pair of four-goal games in their last six contests. "We had a few good shifts and had some scoring chances, but we just couldn't bury them and it came back to bite us," <a target="_blank" href="http://kings.nhl.com/club/preview.htm?id=2011020591">Anze Kopitar told the Associated Press</a> after the Kings lost 2-1 in a shootout at home to the <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="https://www.milehighhockey.com/">Colorado Avalanche</a>.</p>
<p>Kings' goaltender <span>Jonathan Quick</span> is 5-0-2 in his last seven starts with a .951 save percentage during that span. On the season Quick is 17-10-6 with a .932 save percentage that is sixth in the NHL, and a league-best five shutouts.</p>
<p>Phoenix is 1-4-1 in their last six games. The Kings are 2-0-1 against the Coyotes this season.</p>
