Pekka Rinne saved all 20 shots, as the Anaheim Ducks were shutout 3-0 by the Nashville Predators at Bridgestone Arena in Tennessee. It was the second loss in three games for the Ducks (though one was in a shootout) to open their seven-game road trip.

The Ducks are 4-9-1 in Nashville dating back to 2007, including the postseason.

Things didn't go well for the Ducks right from the start, as 14 seconds into the game Patric Hornqvist grabbed a rebound and put it past Jonas Hiller for a quick 1-0 lead for Nashville. The Predators added another tally when Martin Erat scored his first goal of the season at 18:59 of the first period, assisted by Jordin Tootoo and Ryan Suter.

Shea Weber added a goal in the third period to provide the final margin. The Ducks continue their road trip, battling the Columbus Blue Jackets Sunday night in Ohio.

The Anaheim Ducks have gained three of a possible four points in the first two games of their seven-game road trip. On Saturday night, the are in Tennessee to battle the Nashville Predators, who eliminated the Ducks from the 2011 Stanley Cup playoffs.

"I don’t think anybody’s forgotten the feeling of getting kicked out of the first round," defenseman Cam Fowler told Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register on Saturday morning.

As for tonight, Jen Neale at Anaheim Calling believes the key for the Ducks will be the power play:

Anyway, the Ducks feed off the success of the power play. If they playoffs were any indication of how Nashville prefers to take penal...AAHHH...woah...just fell down mid-sentence with no one around me. Where was I? Yes, the penalties. Nashville is 17th in power play percentage. Not exactly the overpowering threat, but the more penalties the Ducks take, the quicker they wear out their penalty killers. Discipline on our part is key. It also helps to beat the Preds at their own game by drawing penalties on Suter and Weber.

This is the first trip to Nashville for the Ducks since getting eliminated by the Predators in the first round of the 2011 NHL playoffs.

The Anaheim Ducks have revenge on their minds on Saturday facing their postseason tormentors, the Nashville Predators, in the third game of a seven-game road trip. The Preds eliminated the Ducks in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs in April in six games.

The Ducks had a golden opportunity in their first-round series, holding a 3-2 lead at Honda Center with less than a minute remaining in the third period of Game 5. Instead of taking a 3-2 series lead, the Ducks surrendered a goal to Shea Weber with 36 seconds remaining in regulation, then another goal less than two minutes into overtime to Jerred Smithson. The Ducks fell behind 3-2 in the series, then were eliminated in Nashville two days later with a 4-2 loss. This is the first trip back to Nashville for the Ducks since their elimination.

The first two games of the Ducks' seven-game, 13-day road trip have resulted in 3-2 contests. Anaheim lost in a shootout to the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday, but rebounded with a win over the Minnesota Wild on Thursday. Teemu Selanne assisted on all three goals in Thursday's triumph, and leads Anaheim with nine points this season. The 41-year old Selanne is currently tied for 13th place in NHL history with Dave Andreychuk with 640 career goals.

Center Ryan Getzlaf, who had a power play tally against the Wild on Thursday, has a three-game goal scoring streak, and has scored four goals in those last three contests. Right wing and reigning NHL MVP Corey Perry began the year with no points in his first three games, but has at least one point in his last six contests, totaling four goals and three assists during that span.

After a four-game losing streak, Nashville has won two of their last three games. In four home contests at Bridgestone Arena this season, the Predators are 1-2-1 and have allowed 14 goals in four contests.
