Dana Eveland pitched seven scoreless innings, leading the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 3-0 win over the San Francisco Giants at AT&T Park in San Francisco. The Dodgers have won four straight games, and 20 of their last 29 contests, and are at .500 (72-72) for the first time since May 2.

Eveland, who made the Pacific Coast League All-Star team after going 12-8 with a 4.38 ERA for Triple A Albuquerque, allowed just three hits and two walks to the Giants on Saturday, pitching into the eighth inning. It was the second straight superlative outing for Eveland, who has allowed one run over 15 innings in two starts with the Dodgers. He was promoted to the big club on September 1.

Kenley Jansen struck out two in a scoreless eighth inning, continuing his amazing work the last few months. Since returning from the disabled list on June 18, Jansen has allowed one run in 25 innings. Javy Guerra pitched a scoreless ninth inning for his 18th save.

Juan Rivera had three hits for the Dodgers, driving in one run and scoring another...on a balk. James Loney and Matt Kemp each tripled and scored for the Dodgers, who go for the series sweep and an 8-2 road trip on Sunday afternoon, with Hiroki Kuroda facing Madison Bumgarner.

It was 10 years ago Sunday that the world was shaken by the events of September 11, 2001. It was day, and a time, in history that none of us will ever forget. It put the sports world on hold for the better part of a week, as both baseball and football postponed several games. On Monday, September 17, 2001, the Los Angeles Dodgers resumed their season with a game against the San Diego Padres.
↵
Vin Scully opened the game with an emotional speech that was played both on the television broadcast and at Dodger Stadium:
↵

The Dodgers are 19-8 in their last 27 games.

The Los Angeles Dodgers look for their fourth straight win on Saturday night, facing the San Francisco Giants in the second game of a three-game series at AT&T Park in San Francisco. With a win on Saturday, the Dodgers would be at .500 for the first time since May 2, when they were 15-15. The Dodgers are 19-8 in their last 27 games.

Dana Eveland gets the start for the Dodgers, his second start of the season. After allowing one run in eight innings in a win in Pittsburgh on September 1, Eveland was scheduled to pitch Wednesday in Washington D.C. against the Nationals, but that game got rained out. He was then scheduled to pitch Thursday in the second game of the doubleheader Thursday, but that got rained out too.

Ryan Vogelsong was picked up off the scrap heap by the Giants in the offseason, and was rewarded for his efforts with the Willie Mac Award, given annually to the Giant who embodies the competitiveness and spirit of Hall of Famer Willie McCovey. Vogelsong was pursued by the Dodgers this winter, but turned them down and called the Giants instead. "I couldn't see myself being a Dodger," Vogelsong said.
