The Los Angeles Dodgers walked all over the San Diego Padres on Tuesday night, especially in the second inning, holding on for an 8-5 win and their seventh win in their last eight games. The Dodgers scored eight runs in the pivotal second inning, chasing Tim Stauffer, including a grand slam by Andre Ethier.

The slam by Ethier was his first home run since July 25, after a span of 120 plate appearances without a home run. It came on the first pitch by Padres' relief pitcher Anthony Bass, after a poor start by Stauffer. The Dodgers were walked seven times by Stauffer, who also allowed seven runs and recorded just five outs on the night.

The Dodgers walked 12 times, their highest total since walking 14 times against the Atlanta Braves on April 21, 1999. Matt Kemp reached base in all five plate appearances, with one single and a career-high four walks. Kemp has scored a run in seven straight games.

On the season, the Dodgers have scored 520 runs and allowed 518, the first time they have had a positive run differential since the second game of the season, on April 1. Ted Lilly goes for the series sweep Wednesday afternoon, facing Wade LeBlanc for San Diego.

The Los Angeles Dodgers took care of the Hall of Famers on their announcing crew last week, as both Vin Scully and Jaime Jarrin decided to return in 2012 for their 63rd and 54th years with the club, respectively. On Tuesday, the Dodgers announced their entire stable of announcers will return in 2012. Dodgers games are televised on Prime Ticket and KCAL, and are heard on radio on KABC and the Dodger radio network.

Jarrin has been announcing Dodgers games since 1959, the Dodgers' second year in Los Angeles. He once had a streak of nearly 4,000 consecutive games broadcast from 1962 to 1984, a streak that make even Cal Ripken Jr. blush.

Rick Monday will return next year for his 19th season in the Dodgers' broadcast booth. Monday serves as radio analyst on radio alongside Charley Steiner, who will return for his eighth season in 2012. In games that Scully calls for television, Scully's call is heard on radio for the first three innings, followed by Steiner and Monday. In all other games, Steiner and Monday call all nine innings on radio.

Eric Collins returns for his fourth season as television play-by-play man for road games outside the National League West. His analyst is Steve Lyons, who will return for his eighth season as part of the Dodgers' broadcast crew. Lyons also works the pre- and post-game shows for Prime Ticket broadcasts.

The Los Angeles Dodgers begin their longest road trip of the season on Thursday, a four-city, 11-game sojourn that will take them through Pittsburgh, Atlanta, Washington D.C., and San Francisco. The Dodgers' third stop on that trek is in the nation's capital against the Nationals, and will feature a matchup against Stephen Strasburg. The 23-year old right-hander is expected to make his first major league start in over a year on Tuesday, September 6, against the Dodgers.
↵
Bill Ladson of MLB.com has the details:
↵
↵
But the bigger news is that Strasburg is expected to make his season debut with the Nationals on Tuesday night against the Dodgers. He will likely pitch no more than five innings. Strasburg will make his final rehab start on Thursday for Double-A Harrisburg, likely throwing 75 to 80 pitches, or six innings.
↵
↵
Strasburg's last MLB start was August 21, 2010 before undergoing Tommy John surgery. He was 5-3 with a 2.91 ERA in 12 starts for the Nationals last season. Strasburg's mound opponent will likely be Ted Lilly.
↵
For more news and information on the Dodgers, be sure to read True Blue LA.

Hiroki Kuroda has allowed two total runs in three starts against San Diego this season.

Hiroki Kuroda goes for his fourth straight win on Tuesday night as the Los Angeles Dodgers battle the San Diego Padres in the second game of a three-game series at Dodger Stadium. Kuroda has been a model of consistency in his four years with the Dodgers.

From the start of 2008, there have been 84 major league pitchers to throw at least 500 innings. Among those pitchers, Kuroda ranks 21st in ERA (3.43), 16th in FIP (3.47), and 21st in xFIP (3.63). This season Kuroda has 19 quality starts in 26 outings, and he has pitched at least six innings in 10 straight starts.

Kuroda went nearly four months without winning a game in which he allowed a run, but has received better run support of late. After having 24 runs scored in a 12-start stretch from June 3 to August 8, Kuroda has received 24 runs of support in his last three starts, all wins.

In three starts against the Padres this season, Kuroda has allowed two total runs. He won twice at Petco Park, pitching a combined 15 2/3 scoreless innings, and got a no decision allowing two runs in seven innings on April 30 at Dodger Stadium, a game the Padres eventually won. Kuroda in his career is 7-4 with a 3.49 ERA in 13 starts against San Diego, his most wins against any opponent.

Tim Stauffer gets the start for the Padres, his fourth start this season against the Dodgers. Stauffer has quality starts in each outing, and a 1.89 ERA with seven walks and 10 strikeouts in 19 innings, but just one win to show for it. The Dodgers are 9-4 against the Padres this season, including 5-2 at Dodger Stadium.
